There was plenty of high school post-season basketball last night…
In the Class C2-7 Boys Sub-District at Clarkson, the Archbishop Bergan Knights defeated Lutheran High Northeast 58-42. Jackson Mahrt scored 13 points while Jake Jensen added 12. The Eagles were led by Ross Freudenburg with 15 points. Bergan is 17-8 and will play Oakland-Craig, tomorrow night in the championship game at 7pm. The game will be broadcast on Gold 105.5. Oakland-Craig beat Stanton 67-62. Lutheran High Northeast is 21-3.
In the Class A-7 girl district tournament semi-finals at Al Bahe Gymnasium, the Fremont Tigers defeated the Norfolk Panthers 48-42. Ali Bachman led the Tigers with 19 points and Sherise Burnside scored 11. Jaida Carley and Breanna Hagedorn scored 10 apiece for Norfolk. Fremont is 18-5 and will play Bellevue West, tomorrow night at 6:30pm for the District Championship. The game will be broadcast on AM 1340 KHUB. Bellevue West defeated Lincoln North Star 56-55. Norfolk ends the year 7-17.
In the Girls’ B-3 District Tournament at Midland University last night, Omaha Duchesne defeated Elkhorn 46-41 and Elkhorn South downed Blair 45-35. Tomorrow night, South Sioux City will play Omaha Duchesne at 6:00 and Bennington plays Elkhorn South at 7:45.
In other area tournaments, at the boys’ C1-3 sub-district, Wahoo Neumann beat Ashland-Greenwood 80-56 and Wahoo beat Conestoga 82-60. In C1-5, Boys Town beat Concordia 80-45 and Omaha Roncalli beat Fort Calhoun 47-45. In C1-6, Logan View beat Arlington 54-53 and Wisner-Pilger beat West Point-Beemer 41-29. In C2-5, Elmwood-Murdock beat Yutan 52-44 and Malcolm beat Omaha Brownell-Talbot 63-48. In D1-3, West Point GACC beat Cedar Bluffs 69-23 and Lyons-Decatur Northeast beat East Butler 55-51. In D1-4, Bancroft-Rosalie beat Emerson-Hubbard 63-28 and Omaha Nation beat Pender 77-41. In D2-3, Dodge beat Clarkson 46-35 and Howells beat Scribner-Snyder 56-32.
Tonight, the Midland University men’s basketball team hosts the Morningside College Mustangs in the quarterfinals of the GPAC post-season tournament. Tip-off is 7:00 at the Midland Event Center. The game will be broadcast on Gold 105.5.
Following a 23-point win over Illinois, the Nebraska men’s basketball team hits the road tonight, as the Huskers travel to Purdue for a matchup with the Boilermakers.
Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m. (central) and the game will be broadcast on AM 1340 KHUB with the Husker Sports Network, plus, televised on the Big Ten Network.
Tomorrow, the Nebraska State High School Swimming and Diving Championships begin at the Devaney Center in Lincoln. Thursday’s schedule is the Diving competition and the swimming preliminaries begin on Friday and championships scheduled for Saturday.

The No. 23 Nebraska women’s basketball team closes Big Ten regular-season road action when the Huskers meet Michigan State for the first time in school history on Thursday in East Lansing, Mich.
Tip-off between the Huskers (20-6, 9-5 Big Ten) and the Spartans (17-10, 9-5 Big Ten) is set for 6 p.m. (central) from the Breslin Center.
The University of Nebraska is hosting the 2012 Big Ten Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24 and 25 at the Devaney Center Indoor Track.
The Huskers, who are hosting the first combined men’s and women’s indoor championships and the first Big Ten Championship at NU, will be competing for the conference title against some of the nation’s toughest competition. Ohio State is the defending Big Ten indoor champion on the women’s side, while Minnesota took the men’s title in 2011. The Husker women captured Nebraska’s 103rd conference title in 2011, while the men last earned an indoor conference crown in 2007.
The Creighton men’s basketball treated its home fans to a second thrilling finish in the last four days, capping a second half rally from 14 points down to claim a 93-92 overtime win over Evansville on Tuesday night.
Creighton (24-5, 13-4 MVC) needed a tip-in by Gregory Echenique just before the regulation horn expired to force overtime, then held on as Evansville (14-14, 8-9 MVC) superstar Colt Ryan missed a three-pointer in the waning seconds of the extra session. It was a rare miss for the junior guard, who set a CenturyLink Center Omaha record with 43 points on 17-of-24 shooting.
Creighton will close the regular-season on Saturday at 3 pm Central with a game at Indiana State.
